It is not easy being the run leader. I have to make sure everything is in order. The part I dislike is to sit down and write a report to the committee.
This is my first posting after the last posting which was in March. It has been more than a month now since I offered to become the run leader on a Thursday night for Reach Out Malaysia.

Before the end of last year, I proposed a CSR project to my fellow classmates of the 20th BGFCU's Para Counselors Training Course. It was the distribution of food to the homeless with Reach Out Malaysia.
On the 20th January, without any preparation at all, I took the mic and talked to the class in front of the distinguished speaker, Dr Phang Cheng Kar. I managed to get good response from the floor.
When you think everything is someone else's fault, you will suffer a lot - Dalai Lama Monday, 24th November 2012, Metro, The Star - FORTY-THREE vagrants were picked up by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers during an ongoing Operasi Bersepadu Gelandangan recently. “Some vagrants had built their own shelters and placed bulk objects at public areas,” he said. “The areas they occupy are filthy and an eyesore for residents and tourists. They also created a lot of discomfort to residents staying around the area,” he said. The shelters built by the vagrants were demolished and bulk objects were disposed of during the operation. 9th February 2012, NST - VAGRANTS, including the ones who had been detained and sent to welfare homes, are causing discomfort among residents and businessmen here. Many of these vagrants are unkempt, smelly, and sleep wherever they want, including pedestrian walkways and corridors. They are tarnishing the town's image, residents claim. Some vagrants have made certain spots their home. They get angry and shout at those who ask them to move away. So, who are these vagrants or homeless?
Yesterday runs were the first runs after two weeks of absence from the food run. Well, a lady has to take some break to recharge her energy. This week, I was doing 2 food runs and helping out at the Reach Out Malaysia booth in a fashion show held in the aid of Reach Out Malaysia.
5.00 pm - Arrived at Bus Stand Klang with young Andrew, Beary and Vincent. People has started to line up. It was not hot but it was stuffy with the haze in KL. Pete, Feexa, Sazliana and the team from Time.com were there. Oyeen the cat was there but he looked tired. The black cat was there also. In addition, Vincent and Beary found a pigeon who looked quite lost... erm.. must had lost its homing device... The man who had the dislocated shoulder 2 weeks back came to collect the food. He seemed to have recovered. By 6.30 pm, it was all over and we went home. That Saturday run was special. Why? Here's why.. This is Izz. He's a member of Reach Out Klang Malaysia - Klang team. He has never join the KL run, so, on that Saturday, I took him for the afternoon and night run. He was in a 'culture shock' so as to say as the scene from Klang run is totally different from the KL run. We were late for the afternoon's run because of the heavy rain and traffic jam. We made it though. I got the chance to meet with YM Tengku Azman, Ketua Pemuda UMNO Bukit Bintang and his team SHEB (Sekretariat Hal Ehwal Bandar) that day. He wanted to see first hand as to the situation of homeless in KL.
Today's runs were special.
Why? This is because I participated in 3 of the Reach Out Food Run i.e. Friday's Klang run, KL's afternoon run and KL's midnight run. 3 runs in a row with only a few hours break in between. What A Record! Secondly, I took the RotiBoy's buns from One Utama outlet in the afternoon and the food from PJ Hilton at night. Thirdly, I met a 23 years old Chinese guy who came from Kluang. He looks decent and educated but stayed on the street. I really can't accept this fact. March 12th 2012, 2255 hrs was the time when Reach Out Malaysia - Klang Maiden Run started. The place targeted in Klang were Port Klang and the town centre.
The run was initiated by one Leo Melvin Lim. He was joined by his son Justin. I were joined by Aring and Erry from NICHe. It is difficult to find homeless people in Klang and Port Klang either because they are on the move or that there are very few of them. The places that we thought that they are there such as Little India (Jln Tengku Kelana), Bus Stand and even the jetty, we couldn't find them. Yesterday, I went to places that I thought it doesn't exist such as the place near the river Klang or the dark and smelly places under the bridges. I met a few interesting homeless people. One of them urinated while sleeping. I think he was drunk. The other kept on saying I would die soon. One of them is working as a mover of goods for a few Ringgits. One thing for sure, they are happy to receive the food. Just like in KL, they consumed the food as soon as possible. I drive a BLACK WAJA. He has been ferrying me to the north, east, west and south of Peninsular Malaysia. Wherever I go, he would be there except when I am going to Langkawi. This is my Black Knight. He has been with me for every Reach Out Malaysia's outings except for a day where he was 'hospitalized' due to an accident. That's the plate number. It has made people other than the owner and me winning lotteries... hahahaha |
AuthorI am still looking for my place in this world. Along the way, I would come across many individuals. Some may need help, some don't. Archives
